Cold-season shrimp protocol — countering low-temperature stress with LALPACK IMMUNE

Cold season (T ≤ 25°C) → slow metabolism, weakened immunity, WFS & hepatopancreas risk. Than Vuong's protocol: immunity boost + microbial support + bioavailable nutrition.

Cold season in northern and central Vietnam (Nov – Feb) is the harshest period for shrimp ponds: temperatures drop to 20 – 24°C, slowing shrimp metabolism, weakening immunity, and nearly halting bottom microbial activity. This protocol keeps ponds stable and shrimp growing despite the cold.

1. Why cold season is dangerous

3 major issues co-occur when T < 25°C:

  • Shrimp metabolism slows — reduced feeding, weight gain drops 50 – 70%.
  • Immunity weakened — Vibrio and EHP easily bloom.
  • Bottom microbes stall — NH₃/NO₂ accumulate fast.
  • WFS risk rises from gut microbiome imbalance.

2. Cold-season protocol

Apply when temperature < 26°C for 3+ days:

  • Feed (1 meal/day): LALPACK IMMUNE 5 g/kg + AQUAMOS 3 g/kg + TETRA-C 3 g/kg.
  • Broadcast: BIO MAX or MAX 4000 every 3 days to compensate slow microbes.
  • Boost DO ≥ 5 ppm — aerators 24/7.
  • Cut water exchange, never exchange cold water suddenly.
  • Use easily-digestible feed, cut 30% from warm-season ration.

3. Special notes

  • Monitor pond temperature 3×/day — if < 20°C, consider 50% feed cut.
  • Day/night temperature swing > 5°C — raise LALPACK IMMUNE to 7 g/kg.
  • Don't disinfect water in cold season unless absolutely required — microbes are hard to reseed.
  • Add minerals (CELL CANPHOS GOLD) on moult — shell hardening is slow in cold.
