Detailed Article

Parasites are a major group of agents causing diseases in shrimp and fish. They attach to the host externally (ectoparasites) or internally (endoparasites) and draw nutrients from the host, causing the host to weaken and grow slowly. Additionally, they cause other negative impacts such as reducing respiratory capacity (flukes, lice, parasites on shrimp/fish gills), damaging skin and shell (ectoparasites), or secreting toxins that affect the nutrient metabolism of shrimp and fish, creating conditions for other bacterial infections to develop and harm the host. When parasites are detected, appropriate measures are needed to eliminate and prevent re-infection in shrimp/fish.

Currently, most white feces disease issues occurring in shrimp are related to the presence of parasites, with symptoms such as spiral intestines, the last segment of the intestine where the intestinal part is rice-grain shaped being swollen, white, and empty of feed, and the junction between the stomach and hepatopancreas being pale or discolored. With these symptoms, farmers should consider deworming shrimp to prevent the disease from worsening.

AQUA PRAZI, with Praziquantel as its main ingredient, can eliminate and inhibit many types of endo- and ectoparasites, including flukes, schistosomes, tapeworms, worms, and other parasites. The drug is effective against both larval and adult parasites.

Mechanism of Action of Praziquantel

Praziquantel increases the permeability of parasite cell membranes, leading to intracellular Ca2+ loss, causing muscle contraction and paralysis. Additionally, the drug creates vacuoles on the parasite's surface, which then rupture and decompose, destroying the parasite.

Some Notes When Using AQUA PRAZI

AQUA PRAZI is absorbed into the parasite's body within 4 hours of use and distributed throughout its organs.

  • However, the drug should not be overused as it may cause certain side effects in farmed animals such as reduced appetite and loose feces in shrimp. Use AQUA PRAZI for shrimp and fish only when there are signs of parasitic infection.
  • After 2 days of feeding, water disinfection should be carried out to eliminate bacterial pathogens and parasite larvae present in the pond water, preventing re-infection in shrimp and fish. Some disinfectant products:
  • VIBRIO CLEAR: 1 - 1.5 kg/1,000 m3 of water, at 9 - 10 AM.

  • After the deworming treatment period, it is necessary to combine it with specialized intestinal treatment drugs to stabilize the shrimp's gut and heal any damage to the intestinal wall.
